My first half marathon.
It began at 6am, my cousins and I got set with the 3:45 bus time so I had to be up at 3am!! It was crazy, we were delirious.
This run was set up American fork canyon starting at 6418 feet in elevation and ending at 4447 feet.
We began next to a lake and while we waited for the race to start they held yoga sessions under the stars.
Mile 1: 10:31 mins
Mile 2: 10:48 mins
Mile 3: 10:41 mins
Mile 4: 10:34 mins
Mile 5: 10:27 mins
Mile 6: 10:34 mins
Mile 7: 10:46 mins
-first seven miles weren’t a big deal, I was like, whoa already 7? Sweet. But then we were out of the canyon and near a golf course. It started getting curvey and finally made it to the sun, it was still shadded, buy not cool like it wad in the canyon along the river.
Mile 8: 10:55 mins
Mile 9: 11:15 mins
Mile 10: 11:45 mins!! :(
Mile 11: 11:55 mins ( thank god they handed out otter pops at this mile)
Mile 12: 12:21- all in the sun, all up hill. I really wanted to melt.
Mile 13: 11:02 mins. We got a second wind and HAD to beat this annoying lady that had been passing us, and then walking so we would pass her. Haha
Finished in 2:24.
Average pace 11:06 min miles.
We shared 2 gu packets, I can not live without gu.
We did not walk once, we have been training and learning to pace ourselves so we did really well.
I’m so proud!
